Afshan Ali-Nazir, M.D.
Medical Director

Dr. Ali-Nazir is fully committed to the emotional, social, and physical well-being of her patients at all times. She has been part of the Orange County medical community for the past 8 years and specializes in treating young adults with malignancies.  She has extensive experience in coordinating clinical trials, particularly in patients with solid tumors.  She is board-certified in pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Pediatrics.

After completing her residency at LeBonheur Children’s Medical and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, through the University of Tennessee, she completed a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York Hospital/Cornell University.  Dr. Ali-Nazir also completed a research fellowship year in molecular biology-immunology at the Rockefeller Research Lab at Sloan-Kettering Institute, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, in New York City.

Currently on staff at Children's Hospital Orange County (CHOC) & University of California-Irvine, Dr. Ali-Nazir decided to develop a unique community based oncology program at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital that would not only provide state of the art care for cancer and related illnesses but would embrace the family as a whole and deal with the illness in an environment that supported and met the needs of the family and the child through extensive psychosocial intervention and community participation.
